Seabourn's SeabournShield
Why do I need SeabournShield?
SeabournShield can protect you against a number of
unexpected occurrences that may affect your travel plans. For example, if a
medical problem involving you, a member of your immediate family or your
traveling companion suddenly arises causing you to cancel your cruise or return
home earlier than planned, you probably would not receive a full refund of your
vacation payment. SeabournShield is specially designed to reimburse you for the
monies forfeited in such instances.
You may also need this program to supplement your existing
insurance policies while traveling. Many medical policies, including Medicare,
do not provide coverage for medical expenses incurred outside the U.S.
Similarly, loss, delay or damage to baggage which occurs during travel may not
be fully covered under Homeowner's policies. SeabournShield can help fill the
gap in such cases.
SeabournShield also responds in many other unexpected
circumstances such as providing potentially costly air ambulance transportation
in emergencies and locating English-speaking medical and legal assistance
worldwide, 24-hours a day. The Schedule of Coverages and Services below
summarizes the wide array of benefits and services included automatically under
SeabournShield.
Are There Exclusions?
In order to provide this package of benefits at an
economical cost without requiring medical exams or questionnaires, certain
restrictions do apply.
Most notably, NO COVERAGE CAN BE PROVIDED FOR CONDITIONS
WHICH EXISTED SHORTLY BEFORE OR WHEN YOU PURCHASED SEABOURNSHIELD.
However, as a service to its guests who enroll in SeabournShield,
Seabourn Line will issue a future travel credit equal to either (1) the penalty
incurred as a result of cancellation or (2) the pro-rated amount of the cruise
cost remaining in the event of trip interruption. Only Seabourn Line can offer
this special credit feature.
Naturally, the program also does not provide duplicate
payments if there are other sources of reimbursement available. Such
restrictions are standard in virtually all travel protection products. All
terms, conditions and exclusions of this program are explained in detail in the
Description of Coverage section of this plan.
How Do I Enroll In SeabournShield?
For your convenience, the cost of coverage, which is a small
percentage of your total cruise price, will be automatically included in the
final balance due on Seabourn's invoice to your
Amazon River Cruises specialist. Enrollment in SeabournShield is made by simply paying this
balance. If you do not wish to take advantage of this coverage, please ask your
cruise counselor to deduct the cost of coverage from the balance due. Payments
for this plan will not be accepted after the later of the following; Your final
cruise payment date or the commencement of Seabourn
Line's penalty period.
If I'm Not Completely Satisfied, Is My Coverage Refundable?
If you are not completely satisfied within 10 days of
receipt of the Description of Coverage, you may request a full refund of the
plan cost provided you have not already departed on your trip.

A - Travel Arrangement Protection
Trip Cancellation/Interruption:
In the event You are prevented
from taking Your cruise due to an Injury, Sickness or death to yourself, a
Traveling Companion, or an Immediate Family member; or, You, or an Immediate
Family member traveling with You, or your Traveling Companion is hijacked,
quarantined, required to serve on a jury, served with a court order, or has
his/her home made uninhabitable by fire, flood, volcano, earthquake, hurricane
or other natural disaster, or is directly involved in a documented traffic
accident while en route to departure, Seabourn Line will pay benefits up to the
maximum limit shown on the Schedule of Coverages for: (a) Trip
Cancellation—non-refundable cancellation charges imposed by Seabourn Line
against Your Total Trip Cost; or the additional costs You may incur as a result
of a change in the per-person occupancy rate of pre-paid travel arrangements if
a Traveling Companion cancels his/her cruise for a covered reason and You do
not cancel; (b) Trip Interruption—unused, non-refundable sea, land, or air
expenses paid to Seabourn Line and/or additional transportation expenses, less
the value of applied credit from an unused return travel ticket, to return home
or rejoin the original sea/land arrangements made by Seabourn Line (limited to
the same class of airfare originally purchased).
Please note: Reimbursement to
WorldFare cruisers will be in the form of a restoration of days to Your
WorldFare account.
NOTE: As respects air
cancellation penalties, You will be covered only for
air arrangements booked and prepaid through Seabourn Line and flights
connecting to such air arrangements booked and prepaid through Seabourn. Seabourn
Line will not provide reimbursement for cancellation charges imposed on any
other air arrangements You may book on Your own.
This program will also pay, up to
$100 per day, for reasonable additional accommodation and transportation
expenses incurred to remain near a covered traveling Immediate Family member or
Traveling Companion who is hospitalized during Your
cruise.
Special Conditions—You must advise Seabourn Line and BerkelyCare Ltd. as soon
as possible in the event of a claim. Seabourn Line will not pay benefits for
any additional charges incurred that would not have been charged had you
notified Seabourn Line and BerkelyCare as soon as reasonably possible.
Pre-existing Conditions:
No reimbursement will be provided
under Part A from any claims arising from any Injury, Sickness or other
condition of Yourself, a Traveling Companion, or an Immediate Family member
booked to travel with You which within the 60 day period before Your Trip
Cancellation coverage began under this plan: A) first manifested itself, became
acute or had symptoms causing a reasonable person to seek diagnosis, care or
treatment; B) required taking prescribed drugs or medicine, unless the
condition for which the prescribed drugs or medicine was taken remained
controlled without any change in the required prescription; or C) required
treatment or treatment was recommended by a Physician.
PLEASE NOTE; ALL COVERED REASONS
FOR CANCELLATION OR INTERRUPTION OF YOUR CRUISE MUST FIRST OCCUR AFTER YOUR
EFFECTIVE DATE OF TRIP CANCELLATION COVERAGE.
Please also see below for an
important credit feature. If you have any questions concerning this exclusion
or the future travel credits described below, please call BerkelyCare at 1(800)
323-3153 for further clarification.
Future
Travel Credit Feature:
As a special service to its
guests who have enrolled in the plan, Seabourn Line will issue a future travel
credit in the following instances.
(1) If You must cancel Your cruise and Your claim is denied due to
a Pre-Existing Condition. The Future Travel Credit will be issued in the amount
equal to the cancellation penalties imposed by Seabourn Line.
(2) If
Your Total Trip Cost exceeds $50,000 per person and you have a covered
cancellation claim, Seabourn Line will issue a future travel credit equal to
the amount by which the cancellation penalties imposed exceed the $50,000 per
person cash reimbursement covered by the plan. For covered interruption claims,
the future travel credit will equal the amount by which the pro-rated amount of
the cruise cost remaining exceeds the $50,000 per person cash reimbursement
covered by the plan.

The Insurer will pay benefits for
Covered Expenses, up to $50,000, if an Injury or sickness commencing during the
cruise results in Your necessary Emergency Evacuation
and/or Repatriation of Remains. An Emergency Evacuation must be ordered by a
legally licensed Physician who certifies that the severity of Your Injury or
Sickness warrants an Emergency Evacuation.
Emergency Evacuation means:
a) Your medical condition
warrants Transportation from the place where you are injured or sick to the
nearest medical facility where appropriate medical treatment can be obtained;
and/or b) after being treated at a local medical facility, Your medical

connection with Your Emergency Evacuation and/or the cost of reasonable and
necessary services for the transport of Your remains from the place of death to
your point of Origin. All Transportation arrangements made for Your Emergency
Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains must be by the most direct and
economical route possible. Expenses for Special Transportation, medical

credit from an unused return travel ticket, with an attendant if necessary;
and/or (b) up to the cost of round-trip economy airfare to bring a person
chosen by You to and from Your bedside if You are alone. These expenses must be
authorized in advance by AIG Assist.
C - Baggage Protection
Baggage/Personal effects:
The Insurer will reimburse You, up
to $3,000, for loss, theft or damage to baggage and personal effects. The

place of residence, up to $500, if Your checked baggage is delayed or
misdirected by a Common Carrier for more than 24 hours from the time You arrive
